Plan: 2022 - Exposed root from top down; SBBK workshop project where planted with very lightweight Japanese rocks in tall plastic pot, then soil level lowered a few times to have vertical exposed root.

2024 - Exposed eroded root over rock, over water. (Very lightweight Japanese rocks abound)

Here we are before and two shots after, going from overgrown to thicken, now instead to small category bonsai.

(Not shown but cuttings saved for rooting, but have had zero success with pine.)
